When David Watkinson was still a preschooler, his mother would wake up in the middle of the night and find him sitting in his bed with the light on, drawing pictures. By the time he was ten years old, David had already taught himself oil painting.
As a teenager, David took his first formal art class at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where two of his paintings were chosen to represent Philadelphia in an "Art of American Youth" world tour.
During that same period, David attended a class at the museum affiliated Fleischer Art School, where he won the Joseph S. Milner award for painting.
During his senior year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, David began painting again, and won a Jury Selection at the Three Rivers Art Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
After graduating from UNC, David moved to California, where he studied film at San Francisco City College, while participating in various art and cultural projects in the Bay Area. After completing his studies, he moved to Southern California and began work in feature films as an assistant director and story analyst.
Since then, David has produced art work in various genres. Examples are listed in the menu on the left in the following categories: Fine Art, Cover Art, Illustration, Drawing, and Cartoons.
